Kephart Scores In Back To Back Games For Salem




LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Salem University men’s water polo team dropped two contests with a 14-11 loss to Washington & Jefferson College and a 19-11 defeat by the United States Naval Academy at the Bucknell University Bison Invitational.
Against the W&J Presidents, the Tigers were led by junior Salvador Orozco who netted four goals, while junior Milos Popovic, senior Inigo Velasco and freshman Austin Kephart (Seminole High, Seminole, Fl.) each put away pairs of markers. Sophomore Petar Leontijevicnotched one goal to round out Salem’s scorers.
Taking on the Midshipmen of Navy, Salem was led by Popovic who scored a team-high five goals.
Leontijevic added three goals in the match, while sophomores Michael Rojas and Uros Jevtic each connected for two strikes. Kephart generated one goal to complete his team’s offensive statistics as the Tigers held tough with Navy to trail by an 11-9 count going into the fourth quarter.
However, the Midshipmen outscored Salem 8-2 over the final eight minutes of action to secure the win.
