Navy will play La Salle, Salem, Wagner, and Mercyhurst at the Bison Invitational
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy water polo team (3-3) heads to Lewisburg, Pa. for the annual Bison Invitational hosted by league foe Bucknell. The Midshipmen will face off against La Salle (1-6) and Salem (2-4) on Saturday, Sept. 15, before taking on Wagner (2-4) and Mercyhurst (6-0) on Sunday, Sept. 16. The game against the Wagner will count as Navy's first Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference game of the season.
Navy takes on La Salle at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday before facing Salem at 8:00 p.m. On Sunday, the Mids play Wagner at 11:00 a.m. and conclude the tournament with Mercyhurst at 2:15 p.m.

The water polo team traveled to Princeton, N.J. for the annual Princeton Invitational. The Midshipmen finished the weekend 1-2 overall. Navy defeated Air Force, 11-9, before suffering a pair of losses to No. 9 Harvard (L, 16-9) and No. 4 Stanford (L, 21-4).

Players to Watch
Sophomore Bobby Lee (Santa Ana, Calif.) and freshman Isaac Salinas (Spring City, Pa.) have paced the offensive attack for the Midshipmen in the early goings. Lee has netted 15 goals in six games (2.5 goals per game), while Salinas has notched 11 goals on the season (1.8 gpg). Last season, Lee finished the year with 31 goals in 22 games (1.4 gpg), but is on pace to finish the year with 55 goals. Salinas leads the team in assists, averaging one per game. Jake Haines (Ashburn, Va.) is second on the team with three assists, while tied for the team-lead in steals (3) with Lee.
Defensively, junior Ronan Williams (Severna Park, Md.) has received the lion's share of the minutes at goal. He has notched a team-high 58 saves and boasts a team-best save percentage of 52.7.
Scouting the Opponents
Navy and La Salle have only met in the water polo pool on two occasions with the Midshipmen posted a pair of victories, outscoring the Explorers, 45-6. The Mids posted a 22-1 victory in the first meeting in 2016 with a 23-5 win last season at the Navy Open.
The Midshipmen are undefeated against Salem, posting a 14-0 overall record against the Tigers dating back to 1997. The Mids bested the Tigers 16-9 last season in the first meeting since 2015.
Wagner, which will be the Navy's first Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) game of the season, holds a 5-1 advantage in the all-time series. The Midshipmen won the first meeting in 2016, but the Seahawks responded with five consecutive victories in the series.
Navy is 12-0 all-time in the series with Mercyhurst. The Midshipmen edged the Lakers, 9-8, in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Tournament last season in Annapolis.
