Brown Women Volunteer for Coastal Cleanup with Save the Bay

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's water polo volunteered with Save the Bay as part of the International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday at Osamequin Nature Trails & Bird Sanctuary in Barrington, R.I.

The International Coastal Cleanup is the world's largest volunteer effort for oceans and waterways. People all over the world remove trash from the shores and document what they find.

On average, more than 2,000 volunteers participate annually in the Rhode Island ICC at more than 80 sites, typically removing about 20,000 pounds of trash and debris. Over 700,000 volunteers across the globe take a stand against ocean trash by joining the ICC.

Save The Bay's mission is to protect and improve Narragansett Bay through a swimmable, fishable, healthy Narragansett Bay accessible to everyone, a thriving and resilient bay recognized globally as an environmental treasure, and communities that are engaged and informed on matters affecting the bay.
