Sun Devil’s Rogge Competing for Netherlands at European Championships




annual championships. The 12 teams are broken into two different prelim groups and the Netherlands is part of group A alongside Croatia, Israel, Italy, France, and Greece, each of which they will play once in preliminary group rounds.
 
In the first and second prelim round, the Netherlands defeated Croatia by an impressive 21-1 margin and Israel by another impressive 20-2 margin, as Rogge contributed two goals in each match.
 
With just over a minute left in the first quarter vs. Croatia, Rogge saved an action shot, following with a goal of her own just eight seconds later to give the Netherlands a then 5-0 advantage. With 2:37 remaining before the half, she scored to put her team up 9-0 and the Netherlands would hold an 11-0 lead at halftime en route to an eventual 21-1 win.
 
The next day, Rogge's team followed the significant win with a 20-2 victory over Israel, scoring with 2:58 left in the first quarter to put the Netherlands up 7-0 and with 3:59 remaining before half to give them a 14-0 lead.
 
Tuesday's third match for the team ended in a 6-6 tie with Italy.
 
The Netherlands' prelim rounds will continue on July 19 vs. France (6:30 pm local/9:30 am PT) and July 21 vs. Greece (8:30 pm local/11:30 am PT) before quarterfinals take place on July 23, semifinals on July 25, and medal matches on July 27.
