ST. PAUL, Minn. - Nine Macalester College student-athletes received All-Academic Team honors from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches, the organization announced today. Additionally the Scots received the ACWPC All-Academic Team Award after posting the seventh-highest team grade-point average (3.48) among all women's collegiate water polo teams. Macalester also ranks second in Division III behind only Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
To be eligible for the ACWPC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.20 or higher. A total of 561 student-athletes were named to the team.
The nine Scots to earn the ACWPC All-Academic Award are senior Hannah Gray (Pasadena, Calif./South Pasadena), juniors Natalie Hoffman(Seattle, Wash./Inglemoor), Lucille Moran (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) and Courtney Overland (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani), sophomores Marie Crane(Laouina, Tunisia/American Cooperative School of Tunis), Oriana Galasso (Gresham, Ore.) and Naomi Strait (Beaverton, Ore.), and first years Abby Hinds (Apopka, Fla./Apopka) and Zoe Schopick (Winchester, Va./James Wood).
Macalester, coached by Scott Reed, finished the season 14-4 and won the CWPA Tournament championship for the second year in a row.
